How to Treat Swollen Gums

The right kind of treatment for swollen gums will largely depend on the cause of the condition.

There are various medical solutions or alternative ways to cure swollen gums.

If necessary, consult with your dentist to find the root of the problem and determine the best treatment for swollen gums.

Here are some ways to cure swollen gums.

1. Rinse your mouth with salt water solution.

Add a tablespoon of salt in a glass of warm water and stir until evenly mixed.

Gargle salt water for several minutes. Repeat this process several times a day to relieve swollen gums.

2. Gargle with lemon juice.

Squeeze the lemon into a full glass of warm water. Gargle with this solution for a few minutes 2-3 times a day.

3. Flossing teeth.

Use dental floss to clean up leftover food from between the teeth.

Food scraps that are not cleaned can lead to gingivitis or gum disease that causes swelling and bleeding.

4. Take vitamins every day.

Swollen gums can be caused by lack of vitamin C, folic acid, or iron.

Take a multivitamin containing essential vitamins and minerals needed.

5. Massaging the gums.

Another way to relieve inflammation of the gums is by massaging the gums using cotton buds.

Do massage at least 5 minutes every day to improve blood flow to the gums.
